Shopping
Judy pretended to be angry when Mike called in the morning
to say David had arrived early, was staying with them and that the meeting at
12 was at the office, not in town.
When she knocked at the door, David called out “Come in dearest
mother, Rot and Uncle tell me you’ve been bossing them about.”
Oot said ‘That’s one more!”
David smiled and told Mike he kept forgetting.
Judy ignored the banter.
“David, you aren’t supposed to be here for another three days, but now
you are you can work. dj when are you
next at the hospital?”
“After tomorrow.”
“Take David. I’m sure
he won’t mind a night on the floor and might learn something.”
dj whispered he’d explain later.
“dj pay attention!
This afternoon you need to get the outfits for the party. Rot, I’ve transferred money to your
bank. Meanwhile there is a shopping list
for Steve, Mike and, as he’s joined us, David.
Everyone at Todd’s at five. I’m
going to check the lists in case there is anything else I need from
England. I’ll take a motorbike to Todd’s,
but one of you can drive it home.”
Mike took the list retreated with Steve and David to a pick
up and drove to Starbucks for a coffee.
“Mum’s driving a motorbike into town?”
“It’s what you’d call a scooter, but yes. Got a feeling she might take the old one
though as it’s usually monopolised by the guys.
She’s even taken her driving test.
She is insisting there are some presents under the tree, assuming there
will be a tree, and wants to be sure the kids have proper cameras.”
Mike thought.
“Cameras are easy, we’ll go to Tukcom.
I’ll call Run for ideas on presents.”
Whilst Mike was on the phone, Steve asked David if he had
ever done drag as, if he was up to it, and the guys could train them, he
thought maybe at the Street Party they could do a number, the five of them.
“I haven’t since university, but if we can get the outfits,
why not.”
Mike finished the call.
“Judy won’t be happy, but presents sorted. Run is at an important temple and he’ll buy
Buddhist amulets for everyone. They will
wrap them and get some other local gifts for the visitors. I’ll go and transfer money now.”
Steve saw the look on David’s face and told him that as soon
as Mike pressed confirm, Run would have the money.
“But what about the Thais, I know they don’t do Christmas,
but they should have something.”
Mike thought. “The
guys are football mad. If I tell you the
teams, can you get Stephen and Richard to bring original shirts from the UK? That leaves Mook and Toi and I have no idea
what to buy Thai ladies.”
“When I call Richard, I’ll task Kate and Sue. Are you up to doing a drag number at New Year
if we can get the costumes?”
“Why not, the place
we get the ladyboy costumes will do them and we have time now that we’ve
delegated present shopping. Let’s get
the cameras, sort the costumes and head for a beer. Judy didn’t say David couldn’t enjoy his
working holiday.”
They finished their coffees, went, bought four cameras and were
measured for costumes. They asked for
two additional ones about David’s size. It
was only three so they headed to an Irish bar for a beer.
“Dad. You in drag and
mum on a motorbike, is there something you haven’t told us?”
“Hey, we are enjoying ourselves and spending your
inheritance. How are you finding your
new Thai family?”
“Fine. I am sure the
kids are going to be surprised! They are
as nervous as hell and I keep thinking I should call them.”
“Let them be, you can enjoy the fun. Just one thing, I have been going through Christmas
accommodation with Cap. David, you are
currently in the ‘Boys Dorm’ on the 24th and 25th.”
“Dorm?”
“Currently you two, the kids and 13 Thais are at Hum and
Ton’s, it could be more.”
“That’s fine. I’ll
get another beer and then you can tell me about New Year.”
As he was about to get up, Mike told him to sit down, caught
a waiters eye and indicated three more.
“You’re not in a British pub, they serve us and you pay at the end.”
It took Steve about 10 minutes to outline the plans. “It’s just a big party that happens to be
live on TV. I can’t have Mike being the
only family member who is a TV star.”
You know Dad, I really did not know what to expect. You seem relaxed and I really like Rot. Uncle, how did you find him?”
“And that’s one more.”
Mike explained to Steve that he had told David to either call him Mike
or Rot uncle. The guys were keeping
track and had a punishment in mind if he didn’t learn.
“Well that now goes for Judy and me now. It will get too confusing for the Thai’s
otherwise. First names only.”
“Okay Da… sorry Steve.
Now when do I get to see these videos?”
“Tomorrow, if Judy gives us some time! But Mike and I have a plan for that.”
They sat relaxing and chatting.
When they got to Todd’s, Judy demanded to know if the
shopping was done.
Mike assured her that if it weren’t, it would be soon. “Don’t worry Run is buying some traditional
Isaan items for everyone. You can check
when you get there. We have the
cameras. Stephen and Richard are buying
presents for the Thais in the UK. Steve
will call them later with the list. Look,
Steve and I know your problem. Fly to
Udon after tomorrow for a few days.
Geoff will meet you. We’ve booked
flights already. Just leave the wedding
to the Thais.”
Judy was about to object.
“Look we know you won’t be happy unless you know everything is
sorted up there. Steve and you can talk
daily. Tomorrow give us our lists of
jobs, we’ll split into three teams and get them done. Either come down when everything is sorted or
stay there. The girls are flying
straight up when they arrive. We’ll take
care of the kids. Rob will act as your
chauffeur. You’ve a room at the
resort. We’ll all fly up on the 24th.”
Rot handed her a piece of paper. “You need to make sure that Run has completed
everything on this list. If he hasn’t
you can spank him. And here is a list of
who is arriving on the 24th from our families.
Cap is in charge of accommodation; make sure he has it sorted.”
Judy nodded.
“Anything else boss?”
“Yes, relax a bit as well.” Facets of Thai Diamonds ISBN : 9786162221446 Category : Erotica & Adventure Pages : 326 Price from : 4.99 US$ (ebook) |
